The Holly Wood Tuesday Morning Show is a community development project initiated and presented by the City of Perth and sponsored by Have a Go News.
The purpose of the show is to encourage people to the central city area and to promote individual development and community awareness through a program of entertainment and guest speakers.
Regularly hosted by compere and coordinator, Bernard Carney, this free community event provides a broad range of entertainment, music, dance, laughter and a variety of theatrical acts.
26th September 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Richard Offen from Heritage Perth will talk about the upcoming Perth Heritage days which this year is focusing on the natural heritage of the Perth inner city landscape, the river, lake systems, swamps and natural bush, and the ways in which they have all changed.
3rd October 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney West Australian Mandolin Ensemble - 9 players from the West Australian Mandolin Orchestra (established in 1976) will perform music written for the plucked string family drawing from a wide range of genres. This will be another Holly Wood Tuesday Morning Show first.
10th October 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Jennifer Merrigan from ‘Have a Go News’ will update you on the news, events and competitions in this month’s issue. Jane and the Rain – Sultry vocalist Jane Cornes and guitar supremo Neil Steward join forces with multiinstrumentalist Chris Clarke (double bass, sax, flute) to bring you a showcase of their favourite jazz and torch songs from the last 50 years.
17th October 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Jay Weston - In our special “Remembering Holly Show”, Jay Weston will provide a beautiful entertainment drawn from the Italian Arias to Musical Theatre, Romantic Love Songs and Popular Ballads. His shows have included opening for Sir Cliff Richard and singing for Her Majesty the Queen on the Perth Foreshore. We are very pleased he can join us again this year.
24th October 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Blue Diamond – Our good friends Bobby Adams and Moira Jo Scott combine to feature songs from such famous duos as Sonny and Cher, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand in a great entertaining show.
31st October 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Joanna Andrew, the assistant manager of the City of Perth Library will talk about the building, the collections and all the great services the library offers to the public
7th November 2017 - NO SHOW DUE TO THE MELBOURNE CUP.
14th November 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Jennifer Merrigan from ‘Have a Go News’ will update you on the news, events and competitions in this month’s issue. Perfect Storm – Wayne and John are a fun and entertaining vocal duo, who will entertain you with your favorite songs from the 50’s onwards.
21st November 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney The Keynotes will present a wonderful show of evergreens from the world of musical comedy and variety.
28th November 2017 - Compere: Bernard Carney Brother Olly Pickett from “Wheelchairs for Kids” will talk about the latest news, designs, projects and partners of this wonderful organisation. Ric Waugh will be singing some of the beautiful ballads from the early 1950s, hoping to evoke some pleasant memories of those bygone days. You will also have the chance to test out your vocal chords with a singalong (words provided). So come along and enjoy the mellow tones of Ric’s fine baritone voice, and to wallow in the nostalgic moments of the early 50s.
