All roads into Kings Park are closed on Australia Day from 6am. Fraser's Restaurant clients with vehicle passes, tour coaches and taxis can get to the main car park via Saw Ave and May Dr. Motorists with ACROD permits will also be permitted.

The Celebration Zone South Perth features multiple areas with 100 free activities suitable for toddlers through to adults and a wide range of food vendors.

New in 2017 are Archery Tag, Barrel Toss, Box Caving, Tip A Doll, Jacobs Ladder and Spider Ball. Some of the new activities are a first for WA.

The celebration Zone is alcohol and smoke free, family friendly fun with plenty of entertainment, games, rides, art and craft.

Accessible ‘grass tracks’ for people with disability, walkers, prams and strollers.

In the Art Tent kids can be inspired by what they love about Australia through art and craft. Decorate a kite or a paper umbrella, make a friendship bracelet, create a beautiful sand art card or make an original fridge magnet.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden offers a vantage point from the approved lawn areas behind the safety tape.

Entry is by gold coin donation to the Friends of Kings Park. All donations will be directed to the conservation of Western Australian flora, to help improve visitor facilities, and assist in maintaining some of our State's significant cultural and memorial sites.

For the protection of the Park, dogs are not allowed and the use of barbecues, sparklers and open flames is not permitted.

Visitors to Skyworks 2017 are reminded that it is illegal to consume alcohol in public.

However, to allow adults to have a responsible alcoholic beverage during their picnic and the fireworks display there are two designated BYO Picnic Zones where limited alcohol can be consumed.

This Australia Day, Langley Park is THE place to be with family fun galore in the free Entertainment Zone plus Perth’s best views of the fireworks show. The Langley Park Entertainment Zone starts from 3.00pm.

An Australia Day celebration would not be complete without the sizzle of a sausage or two. The Rotary Club is keeping tradition alive with their Big Aussie Sausage Sizzle for a true taste of the Australian summer.

City of Perth Skyworks Air Show

3.30 to 7.50pm

Before the fireworks, cast your eyes skyward for an aviation spectacular featuring vintage aircraft, helicopters and planes flying in formation. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) fire-fighting fleet demonstration will include an air crane, air tractors and helitacs while the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will dazzle in formation and with solo aerobatics. Skywriters and skydivers will delight and adventurous pilots will perform stunning aerobatics in a variety of aircraft.

Skyworks Water Regatta

4.30 to 7.30pm

As well as being the perfect setting to experience the country’s biggest Australia Day celebration, our beautiful Swan River is also the place to see loads of water action.  Don’t miss the classic Wooden Boat display and the Aussie Day Splash with swimmers making their way from the flag pole on the city foreshore to the flagpole on the South Perth foreshore.

SKYWORKS

The City of Perth Skyworks finale will see the sky above the Swan River explode into colour with Western Australia’s largest annual fireworks display.
The world-renowned Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics will deliver Western Australia’s largest annual fireworks display. At 8pm the sky above the Swan River will explode into colour with this much loved tradition. 
The 2017 City of Perth Australia Day Skyworks will feature a massive floating flotilla of fireworks barges, more firing positions than ever before creating the biggest and widest spread of firing positions in Skyworks history. 
The sequences designed by pyrotechnics choreographer Stuart Bensley promise to be Skyworks’ most memorable yet, including one magical moment which will spell out PERTH in new ‘PYRO DIGITS’ so be sure to have your camera ready! 
Tune in to mix94.5’s synchronised music soundtrack on your analogue radio to make the Skyworks 2017 experience complete (digital radios and phones can experience a lag and/or loss of transmission due to the amount of people attending).

There are many locations with equally spectacular views to enjoy the 2017 Skyworks. Here are some options for you!

LANGLEY PARK
Located on the northern side of the Swan River, Langley Park is home to the City of Perth’s Entertainment Zone and is the place for free entertainment galore.

SUPREME COURT GARDENS
To the western side of Langley Park is Supreme Court Gardens, the location for 2017’s indigenous Birak Concert. 

Events at

ON THE RIVER

An 8 knot speed limit will be in place from the Narrows Bridge to Causeway Bridges including all of Perth Water from 3:00pm until 11:00pm. This excludes the existing 5 knot speed restricted area between the west end and east end of Heirisson Island.
Elizabeth Quay will be closed to all vessels from 12:00 noon on the 26th January 2017 until 06:00am on the 27th January 2017.


Perth Water will be closed to all vessels from 4:45pm until 9:45pm including passenger pick up and drop off from Barrack Street and Mend Street jetties.


There will be a 300m exclusion zone around the firework barges and pontoons within Perth Waters from 7:00pm on the 25th January 2017 until 08:00am on the 27th January 2017.
There will be an exclusion zone within all the waters of Heirisson Island Cove from 8:00am on the 17th January 2017 until midnight on the 27th January 2017.
Anchoring is only permitted in the designated areas and vessel masters are advised to ensure that they are aware of the available water depth at the time of anchoring. Some sections of the holding areas are quite shallow.
The Narrows Bridge main navigation channel (centre arch only) is to be used by all vessels.
No vessel is to move from the vessel holding areas until the DoT Marine Safety announces the waters open. An announcement will be broadcast on marine band radios 27Mhz channel 88 and VHF channels 9 and 16 following the event.
The Belmont water ski area will be closed to water skiing from 3:00pm on the 26th January 2017 until 8:00am on the 27th January 2017, to facilitate safe navigation from Maylands and Goodwood Parade boat ramps.
Swimming will be prohibited in Perth Water between the Narrows Bridge and Causeway Bridges, including all of Perth Waters, from 3:00pm on the 26th January 2017 until sunrise on 27th January 2017.
Vessel skippers are reminded of the 10 knot speed limit in any non-speed restricted areas of the Swan Canning Riverpark between the hours of sunset and sunrise.
Be mindful of your vessels wash to reduce impact on the banks of the Swan River and help prevent erosion and protect wildlife.
