The City at New Year

Welcome in the New Year with free activities for the whole family at the City of Perth’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Children of all ages can enjoy high energy, interactive shows; or take part in percussion and African drumming workshops.

Northbridge is set to come alive with colourful and entertaining street performances leading to an early countdown for families followed by a spectacular midnight countdown.

4.30pm - Movie Screening: Zootopia 

Family Entertainment Commences 

6.00pm - Rhyme-Time (Winner of the 2017 Fringe Festival's Children’s Events Award, renowned jazz singer Libby Hammer and her band will introduce children to new sounds as they perform well-known nursery rhymes in the styles of funk, pop, blues and jazz.)

7.00pm - Miss Hoopla (Children will learn a retro skill in a fun-filled hula hoop workshop. Mums and dads are also encourage to join in to see if they've 'still got it' .....or not! Miss Hoopla will wow everyone with an awesome dispay of hooping skill and will give away great prizes for the best hooper.)

7.30pm - Amuck (Juggler, acrobat and clown; Mr Pants often finds himself in the wrong place at the right time. Young or old this high energy show full of crazy capers and sticky situations will leave you in stitches (and not necessarily the good kind!))

8.00pm - Kaboom (Members of Kaboom Percussion will create music and amazing rhythmic sounds from a wacky range of 'instruments' and will run an interactive workshop for children.)

9.00pm - Family Countdown 


Main Stage Entertainment Commences

9.00pm - Australian Santana Experience (7-piece band that pays homage to their Afro Cuban heroes. Endorsed by the real Santana band, the group performs an authentic tribute and delivers a powerful and energetic show.)

10.10pm - Fisher Boys (Four brothers who made a name for themselves on X-Factor 2015. Skilled musicians and singers, the group’s performance includes perfect harmonies and synchronised dance moves.)           
11.20pm - Milford Street Shakers & Dancers (The Shakers are a classic big band whose repertoire includes gritty blues through to soul and R&B classics. The band performs songs made famous by legends such as Etta James, Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding.)

Midnight - Spectacular countdown including fireworks

4.30pm - Movie Screening: Moana

Family Entertainment Commences 

6.00pm - Non-Stop Bop (Musical time travellers look back at the 'year that was' with songs and dances that celebrate 2017. So put on your dancing shows and join in the fun.)

7.00pm - Akwaaba (A cultural performance by traditional African drummers and dancers. Performers will also run an interactive drumming workshop for children.)

8.00pm - The Improv Show (Members of the Big HOO-HAA will create hilarious improvised comedy for children in the style of classic shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Thank God You’re Here.)

9.00pm - Family Countdown 

Main Stage Entertainment Commences

9.00pm - Renegade (Renegade perform their original brand of country flavoured pop and country classics. Their re-worked pop/rock repertoire includes favourites by The Beatles, Billy Ray Cyrus, CCR, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Johnny Cash, T Rex, Tom Petty, Cold Chisel, The Eagles, Paul Kelly, Elvis and more.)                 
10.10pm - Catzilla (A fun and infectious soundtrack to the groovy sounds of the 60s. (Think Austin Powers and the B52s). The music is pure hip-shaking fun and the band performs with the grooviest gals in town, the Beehives GoGo dancers.)       
11.20pm - Murphy's Lore (Murphy's Lore is fronted by the outstanding vocal and instrumental talent of Chris and Courtney Murphy, the brothers who became household names on Australian Idol. Murphy's Lore will play classic Aussie rock songs from the decades.)   
Midnight - Spectacular countdown including a small display of fireworks
