Eat Drink Perth 2018: Exploring the Breakfast Club

The fabulous girls Maddie and Leah who love everything breakfast and brunch have given us an inside look at some of the food fun that is part of this years Eat Drink Perth in the City. Enjoy!

It’s no secret we love to brunch. However, we are creatures of habit and are often guilty of sticking to our local haunts. So, we were excited to hear that Eat Drink Perth was happening again, as the perfect excuse for us to check out what the city has to offer. With more than 115 participating venues over 8 different categories, where else would we start but “The Breakfast Club”.

Our first visit was the Cherry and Grapes in West Perth. Located just off Hay Street, we were surprised to find this culinary refuge amongst all the hustle and bustle. Why did we choose here as our first stop, you ask? Because as part of the Eat Drink Perth campaign they are offering a limited edition Fried chicken waffle, with bacon and chilli maple syrup. Insert drool-face emoji here. The dish was everything we hoped it would be - crunchy, salty, sweet, with a hit of spice. They had even snuck in some spinach to ease our guilt. We took the opportunity to sample another dish off their all-day breakfast menu, ordering the mushroom and haloumi stacker, with pesto and beetroot cream, and a poached egg. To celebrate our adventure into the city, we topped it all off with a mimosa which we highly recommend.

Our next visit was after an extended (whoops) City shopping trip one morning, which left us brunchless. Fromage Artisans  saved the day with their 10 cheese toastie deal - $12 with a complimentary Wille Smith cider (make sure you mention “Let’s Do Lunch”). How could we say no? We kid you not about the 10 cheeses, these guys use a variety of different speciality cheeses. It was all our cheese dreams realised, perfectly accompanied by a sticky, sweet semi-sundried tomato relish. We decided to balance out the 10 cheeses with a delectable charcuterie board… and more cheese! We ordered the meat and pickles board and the mini baked camembert with honey, thyme and hazelnuts. Perfect. On our way out we stopped by the cheese vault, where we died and went to cheese heaven.
The 10 cheese toastie is available Wednesday to Saturday from noon till late, and Tuesday after 4pm. Get in on a Wednesday or Thursday for the “Let’s Do Lunch” cider pairing. For all you cheese lovers, this is one not to miss!

Scrolling through the many venues participating in Eat Drink Perth 2018, it’s difficult to choose what to try next. We’ve got our eyes on the Bella Ladies night at Gazette (Print Hall), where $40 per person will get you reserve seating and 2 hours of bottomless prosecco, every Saturday from 8pm. Click here for more.

These Eat Drink Perth specials are only available until March 31st, so don’t miss out on experiencing all the incredible food that our CBD has to offer.
