Festive fun in the city this weekend!

Christmas is fast approaching so head into the city to get into the festive spirit!

The city is home to a range of fantastic Christmas events, see below for what's on this weekend! 

Christmas Lights Trail

Saturday 02 December 

City Carollers, 9.00am 

Get your Christmas groove on while you enjoy carols in the Murray and Hay St Malls from award-winning groups Perth Harmony Chorus and Men In Harmony. Make a day of it and get your Christmas shopping done after, refuel with dinner, and finish off by visiting a few stops on the Christmas Lights Trail. 

Santa in Perth City Competition 

Santa's will be taking over the city on Saturday for our #santainperthcity competition! 
Pick up a FREE Santa from Elizabeth Quay (near the Deconstructed Christmas Tree) from 12pm, Harold Boas Garden in West Perth from 10am or in Claisebrook Cove in East Perth (across from The Royale) from 9am. 
Once you have your Santa take a photo with him anywhere within the City of Perth and upload the photo to instagram with #santainperthcity. We want to see Santa exploring all areas of the city, the more creative the better!

Northbridge Outdoor Movies, 5.30pm & 8.30pm

Head to the Northbridge Piazza for FREE festive movies! Check out one of the nearby restaurants or grab some tasty takeaway and pull up a beanbag for free double-feature movie screenings at 5.30pm and 8.30pm. Family friendly, The Search for Santa Paws screens at 5.30pm and Christmas favourite Love Actually screens at 8.30pm. Santa will also be at the piazza from 4.30pm then roaming throughout Northbridge once The Search for Santa Paws film starts.

RAC Christmas Pageant, 7.30pm 

The RAC Christmas Pageant, supported by the City of Perth, Channel Seven and The West Australian is returning to the streets of Perth to celebrate its 46th year and we have lots of new surprises in store for you.
St George's Terrace is set to come alive with the colour and magic of The RAC Christmas Pageant. This year's event promises to be packed with fun from end-to-end, including spectacular new floats, bands, music and dancing, Seven personalities including Fat Cat and, of course, Santa with his reindeers, food and beverage options and so much more!

Sunday 03 December

Perth Home Grown Markets,11am 

Spend a relaxing Sunday morning at the City’s sustainable living market (located in the Murray St Mall) filled with specialty baked goods, unique handmade gifts, homewares and fresh fruit and vegetables. Pick up some Christmas presents whilst you are there.

Letters to Santa, Holday Inn 

Holiday Inn Perth City are giving you the chance to WIN a Family Getaway Package this Christmas! Post your letter to Santa in our giant Santa Mailbox in their hotel lobby before 15th December to go in the draw. One of Santa’s elves will pick up and deliver the mail, right to the big man himself – and you’ll get a reply!

Choose one of 39 evenings to walk our new Christmas Lights Trail throughout the city, featuring mesmerising festive installations guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit. See the city’s laneways, streets and parks brighten with animated lights, projections and lively festivities.

Installations include:

  • Christmas Lights Tunnel, Northbridge Piazza
  • LED Christmas Tree, outside Roe St Bus Station
  • Christmas Constellation, Forrest Place
  • Giant Bauble, Murray St Mall
  • Tangle of Tinsel, Perth Cultural Centre
  • The Dreamcatcher, Central Park
  • 20 Giant Candles, Hay St Mall
  • Christmas Projections, St George’s Cathedral
  • Deconstructed Christmas Tree, Elizabeth Quay
  • Christmas Tree for Lifeline WA, Elizabeth Quay

The Christmas Lights Trail can be experienced every night from 6pm (projections on St George's Cathedral start at 7.30pm) until Christmas Day.
